Fashola Offers Free Bus Rides To Lagos Residents On Easter Monday

The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, announced that the residents of the state would enjoy free bus rides on Easter Monday, via LAGBUS Asset Management Ltd buses. He also urged the people to be security conscious, to report unusual situations during the Easter period.
The LAGBUS Public Relations Officer, Mrs Oluyemi Junaid, confirmed this in a statement on April 17, 2014, Thursday. He said the free rides would be provided on Easter Monday, April 21, 2014. They are aimed at promoting the use of public transportation, as well as reducing congestion on roads on the day.
The PRO also added that the free bus rides were also to celebrate the annual Lagos Carnival, tagged LASGIDI, which coincided with Easter Monday.
The rides will be provided on all LAGBUS routes across the metropolis, between 6am and 10pm.
It would be added that the State Government on April 16, 2014, Wednesday, also announced free rides for its buses on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes, from Mile 12 to CMS, and the Bus Franchise Scheme (BFS) on the Ikotun-Igando-Iyana-Ipaja-Ikeja routes.
Fashola gave the advice while handing over Addo/Addo-Kekere/Lamgbasa/Kajola network of roads and Ajah-Badore Road in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.
Commenting on the roads being handed over, he said that public infrastructure were people's assets that they must maintain.
According to Fashola, the newly built roads are expected to last for a minimum of 30 years, if well used and properly maintained.
The governor noted that the roads were part of the fulfilment of his electoral promises to residents.
Fashola further urged travellers and residents to be alert and vigilant at motor parks and to be proactive to raise alarm on suspicious characters and situations.
"If you see something unusual, say something," the governor said.
