Sources stated that the fire, which began at about 1:40p.m on Monday, lasted for two hours, causing serious damages to the hostel.
The commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, Mr. Muhammad Gidado, confirmed to newsmen in Dutse that the fire destroyed the hostel completely.
He said, however that none of the students was affected by the fire as they were in their classes during the incident.
The commandant explained that the students’ property were burnt to ashes by the inferno.
“It took more than two hours for the NSCDC, other security agents, fire fighters and the staff of the school to put out the fire,” Gidado said.
According to him, the investigation was still on to identify the cause of the fire.
