Akosa suggests “morgue baptism” for ministers to stop corruption

Former Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Professor Agyeman Badu Akorsa, says he believes a one hour visit to the mortuary by all ministers will be an effective tool to reduce corruption in government.

Speaking on Adom FM and Asempa FM’s “Burning Issues” with Afia Pokua on how to ensure better governance in Ghana, Prof. Akorsa said “all ministers should be taken to the Korle-Bu mortuary to experience firsthand how dead bodies are treated.”

According to the Pathologist turn politician, the experience will teach them a lesson that would discourage them from becoming corrupt and running down the nation’s coffers.

“I believe most of the ministers today will collapse in the morgue if they witness an autopsy being conducted – but those who will survive it will learn a very big lesson about life and become less corrupt,” he argued.

Prof. Akosa noted with concern that, over the years, efforts at fighting corruption have yielded very little results because most of the ministers have no consideration for fellow humans.

According to him, most ministers think they will never die that is why they engage in corruption.

He said, “when they come to the morgue and see how human remains are arranged, they will see that man never is.”

Meanwhile, some Ghanaians who spoke with Adom News, supported Prof. Akosa’s recommendation.

Some even insisted it has to start with the President himself.
