The oil thieves were arrested with 164 fifty-litre jerry cans containing petrol.
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Plateau
State has arrested five suspected pipeline vandals, among whom are two
soldiers of the 3 Amoured Division, Rukuba Cantonment, Bassa Local
Government Area.
Parading three of the suspects on Thursday at its command, the state
commandant of the corps, Vincent Bature, said another suspect was at
large. He explained that his officials arrested the suspects following a
tip off from members of the public.
He stated that the soldiers were handed to the authorities at their
barracks for appropriate prosecution and would be court-martialed in
accordance with military rules.
He said the three civilians paraded before journalists would be handed to the Police.
