The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has asked the Chief Judge, Justice Umaru Dikko, to raise  a seven-man panel to investigate the financial misconduct charges raised in the impeachment  notice served Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
During Wednesday’s plenary which lasted eight minutes and presided over by the Speaker, Ahmed Musa, the motion for the empanelling of the body was moved by the Deputy Speaker, Eleshe Agwadu, and seconded by the Chief Whip, Muhammed Ukepede, before its eventually adoption by the 20 PDP lawmakers present out of  the 24-member legislature with objection from the sole APC member, Tanko Tunga.
They subsequently directed the Clerk of the Assembly, Ego Maikeffi, to communicate the directive to the CJ.
The Speaker ruled: “Mr. Clerk, you are by this motion as seconded hereby directed to communicate the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State to constitute a seven-man panel of investigation to investigate the alleged misconduct by Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.”
The legislators reportedly arrived Lafia, the state capital Wednesday morning from Abuja where they have been since last Wednesday when the impeachment notice was served.
