Police Inaugurates Committee To Probe Bomb Attack On Buhari, Others


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar, has instituted an investigative team to unearth the perpetrators Wednesday’s twin bomb attack in Kaduna which killed over 40 people and injured some 37 more. 
The two bombs which exploded at different times, targeted a former Head of State, Mohammadu Buhari and a prominent Islamic cleric, Dahiru Bauchi.
The two men escaped unhurt.
A statement by the police spokesperson, Frank Mba, on Thursday said that the team of investigators, which is expected to work in close collaboration with other security agencies, is headed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Legal Department, Nwodibo Ekechukwu.
Other members of the team include: Chris Ezike of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Dan Mallam of the Monitoring Unit and Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi of the Interpol Unit and others. All the officers are Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCPs.
Mr. Mbah said on the orders of the IGP, security has been tightened in all states of the federation, particularly in the states perceived to be more vulnerable to terror attacks.
Another bomb exploded in Kano Thursday killing at least one person and injuring eight more.
The explosion occurred at the central bus park in the Sabon Gari area of the city, targeting travellers.
