Abuja Explosion: SSS Arrests Suspect’s Father

The father of the ‘mastermind’ of April 14 bomb blast in Nyanya, Abuja, Agene Ogwuche, has been arrested by the Department of the State Security Service, DSS.
Mr. Ogwuche, a retired colonel in the Nigerian army is the father of Aminu Ogwuche who was arrested by Interpol on Wednesday in Sudan.
The SSS spokesperson, Marylyn Ogar, during a media briefing on Thursday said that the suspect’s father was arrested because he breached the bond, which he signed while taking his son’s bail in 2012.
The blast left 75 people dead and over 100 others injured.
Mr. Ogwuche’s son was released to him on bail in October 15, 2012, following intense pressure from human rights activists, who alleged human rights violation, the SSS said.
Ms. Ogar also that diplomatic paperwork is being concluded for the extradition of the suspect.
Also at the conference, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, noted that the retired colonel would be made to answer for his inability to meet the bail bond he signed.
Mr. Ogwuche, in 2012, had pledged to produce his son when needed for questioning.
Also, Coordinator, Joint Information Centre on Chibouk girls, Mike Omeri, assured Nigerians that the over 250 schoolgirls who were kidnapped from their dormitory in a Government Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, will be rescued.
Mr. Omeri said Nigeria is working in synergy with the international community to rescue the girls and reunite them with their families.
