Aford Publicity Secretary Khumbo Mwaungulu said the party is currently planning to revamp its structures across the country.
“We will continue working with Peoples Party, we have no plans to quit the alliance,” said Mwaungulu.
Mwaungulu claimed Aford’s pact with the PP helped the candidate for the ruling party to amass more votes from the northern region compared to the central and southern regions.
“Presidential candidate for PP Joyce Banda amassed more votes in the north than the other regions because Aford campaigned along with the PP. We don’t regret working in alliance with the PP, there can only be one winner in every competition,” he added.
Aford has only managed to retain one parliamentary seat through its president Enock Chakufwa Chihana who has been given a second term of office to represent Rumphi central Constituency.
The party’s lone seat follows failure by Khwauli Msiska to retain his seat as a Member of Parliament for Karonga Nyungwe.
On how Aford is rating their performance in the just ended tripartite elections, Mwaungulu said despite his party winning one parliamentary seat, it still has more supporters in the country.
“We did not had enough time to campaign for our aspirants due to in house wrangles but also because we were financially handicapped, but currently plans are underway to revamp all our structures across the country,” he added.
