Nigerian Police arraign 2 brothers for manufacturing guns, others

The prosecutor, Sunday Akingbade, told the court that the accused were arrested on May 20 at about 5 p.m.
The police on Friday arraigned two brothers, Musibau Raji, 32 and Kamal Raji, 30, in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly manufacturing firearms and dealing in arms and ammunition.
The prosecutor, Sunday Akingbade, told the court that the accused were arrested on May 20 at about 5 p.m. at Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo.
He said the accused conspired to commit felony, to wit manufacturing of firearms and dealing in arms and ammunition, when they manufactured and were caught with locally made barrel guns.
He said the offence contravened sections 516 and 22, and punishable under Section 27(b) (IV) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge; and their counsel, Onifade Bukola, applied for their bail.
The chief magistrate, Olusola Aluko, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each and two sureties each in like sum.
Mr. Aluko added that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, swear to affidavit of means and provide two passport photographs to the court.
The case was adjourned till July 22 for mention.
